Seeking only getting ready and ceremony photos, our time with Ashley and Peter was short but very sweet. Set on a quiet, private beach behind the family home in Marshfield, MA, the tone of the day was decidedly mellow and lighthearted. When I arrived at the neighbors home where Ashley, her mother, and bridesmaids were getting ready, I was greeted by the brides warm smile and welcoming hug. The ladies spent their time together joking around, sipping mimosas, and putting the finishing touches on their dresses and makeup. Sparkling red sneakers completed Ashley’s look, and days beachy, Americana color scheme. Right before it was time to head next door, Ashley’s mom wiped happy tears from her eyes before placing the veil on her daughters head. “I’m probably going to cry”! Ashley said, laughing, as she walked downstairs to greet her dad, who’s stoic demeanor gave way to a huge smile upon seeing her.
Once all had made their way from the backyard to beach, it was time for the ceremony to begin. Calls of gulls and the whir of boats passing by provided the soundtrack for this perfect late summer day, as the guests enjoyed a light breeze that carried the scent of salt and sea grass across the ocean waves.
As Ashley walked down the aisle, smiling brightly, a look of complete contentment and joy spread across Peters face. Lighthearted and filled with laughter, their words echoed the casual ease and warmth of the entire day. At the moment of their kiss and air horn sounded from a neighboring boat and all passers by applauded and cheered along with Ashley and Peters family and friends, as the couple bounded down the aisle, grinning from ear to ear.
A short while later, music played over the sounds of clinking glasses and laughter as Ashley and Peter walked across the yard to join those that they held most dear. I smiled, knowing they were going to have a perfect night to go with their perfect day.
